Few hotels place you closer to Sydney’s vibrant heart than Swissôtel. Located on Market Street, it sits opposite the historic State Theatre and directly next to the Myer Centre entrance, offering unparalleled convenience in the bustling CBD. Just a short walk from Saint James Station, the hotel is easily accessible via the airport train in less than 30 minutes—or by car in roughly 20, traffic permitting. Two light rail stops are also within 50 meters, while iconic landmarks such as the Queen Victoria Building, Martin Place, and the International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour are all within a leisurely walk.
Marking its 24th anniversary, this 369-room hotel unveiled a refreshed look last year, with particular attention given to its level 8 lobby. Reflecting the building’s 1930s heritage, the space exudes a sense of grandeur, highlighted by the newly revamped lobby bar, Arches on Market. Offering a modern twist on classic cocktails and bar snacks, the venue channels the atmosphere of traditional palm court bars, blending vintage elegance with contemporary design.
The bar’s standout features include a Commercial Palazzo-style façade, a scalloped awning at its entrance, and three soaring arches framing an 8-meter Irish green Calacatta marble bar, illuminated by striking glass pendant lights. Guests can choose from booths, bar stools, and lounge seating, while a dining area along the Market Street windows provides a more intimate setting.
Swissôtel Sydney offers two distinct dining experiences: the newly introduced Arches on Market lobby bar and the signature restaurant Ten Stories, located adjacent to the lobby. Open daily for buffet breakfast and dinner, Ten Stories presents a menu of modern Australian cuisine crafted with sustainable, locally sourced ingredients and accented by Italian and Asian influences under the direction of Executive Chef John Giovanni Pugliano. The dinner menu includes a two- or three-course pre-theatre option—perfect for guests visiting the nearby State Theatre—as well as an extensive à la carte selection. Accor Plus members can enjoy discounts on the pre-theatre menu.
Guests staying in the Signature Skyline or Executive Rooms and Suites can also access the Executive Club on level 9, where they’ll find buffet breakfasts, afternoon tea, and evening drinks paired with canapés.
The name Ten Stories pays homage to the hotel’s rooftop beehives, located on level 10. These hives, managed in partnership with Sydney Bee Rescue, produce honey and honeycomb used in many dishes and cocktails served at the restaurant. The bees, which pollinate the nearby Royal Botanic Gardens, are part of Swissôtel’s commitment to sustainability and bee conservation. This thoughtful integration of nature and cuisine reflects the team’s dedication to quality and craftsmanship, inviting diners to savor a truly unique culinary experience.
Located on the outdoor terrace of the 10th floor, the pool area has been refreshed in 2023 with a contemporary design, featuring cabanas, daybeds, and private booths. Guests can unwind while enjoying food and drinks from Arches on Market, including handcrafted cocktails delivered straight to their poolside seats. The space combines sleek white walls, a light wood deck, and teal-green loungers, drawing inspiration from the laid-back ambiance of European summers.
In addition to the pool, the 10th floor is home to a well-equipped gym and a spa, offering options for both relaxation and fitness.
Every room at Swissôtel Sydney is outfitted with either a king-sized bed or twin doubles, ensuring a comfortable stay.
The room’s layout is thoughtfully designed, with a small entryway separating the main space from the corridor, adding a sense of privacy. Inside, you’ll find a spacious area with a double wardrobe, a desk, and two chairs. The bathroom, equally generous in size, features a separate bath and shower, accented with marble details and blue-and-white tiling.
For a more elevated experience, guests can opt for the Executive or Signature Skyline rooms and suites. These include access to the Executive Club Lounge, where complimentary gourmet breakfasts, evening canapés, and pre-dinner drinks are served. Additional touches in these upgraded accommodations include Pürovel bathroom amenities, luxurious 300-thread-count Frette linens on the bed, 24-hour in-room dining, and a Nespresso machine to start the day.
