As Australia’s leading regional accommodation provider, G’day Group has established an impressive footprint across the country, offering travelers a wide range of destinations and experiences. With over 85 properties, the group caters to all kinds of adventurers, from families seeking comfort to explorers chasing outback thrills. Clare Read, G’day Group’s Account Manager, uncover for us a taste of some highlights of this expansive network. She takes us on a journey through Tasmania, the scenic Great Ocean Road from Melbourne to Adelaide via Kangaroo Island, the Epicurean Way from the Fleurieu Peninsula to the Clare Valley through the Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley, and finally, the Explorers Way, stretching from Adelaide to Darwin through Australia’s legendary Red Centre.

Let’s begin our journey with G’day at the southernmost part of Australia, in Tasmania’s capital, Hobart. Discovery Parks Hobart serves as an excellent base for exploring this captivating region. "Hobart is the gateway to some of Tasmania's most iconic attractions, including the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) and the Huon Trail," says Clare Read, Account Manager at the G'Day Group. The park offers a variety of accommodations, from superior cottages that sleep up to six people to deluxe cabins for four. Family-friendly amenities such as mini golf, playgrounds, and BBQ areas ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay for all guests.

Heading north, just 15 minutes from Launceston, you’ll find Discovery Parks - Hadspen. Nestled near the South Esk River, this tranquil location is ideal for exploring wineries, Cataract Gorge, and the Tamar Valley wine region. "Hadspen is a hidden gem," Clare adds, "perfect for families looking to combine nature and culture." The park offers superior cottages and cabins, along with seasonal campfires and an activity room.

From Hadspen, venture inland to Discovery Parks - Cradle Mountain, a property Clare describes as "the crown jewel of our portfolio." Located at the edge of the World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain-Lake Saint Clair National Park, guests can enjoy direct access to shuttle services and breathtaking wilderness. Recently upgraded, the park boasts premium mountain cabins for couples seeking an intimate retreat, deluxe and superior cabins for families, and charming cottages for a more rustic experience. Guests can also enjoy mini golf, conference facilities, and a kiosk.

Finally, make your way to the northern coast and Discovery Parks - Devonport. Conveniently located near the Spirit of Tasmania ferry, this park serves as the perfect base to explore the Cradle-to-Coast Tasting Trail or embark on outdoor adventures like cycling, kayaking, and sailing. "Devonport is ideal for guests traveling to and from Melbourne," says Clare. "The proximity to the ferry makes it a seamless stop on any Tasmanian road trip." The park offers superior cottages.

Exploring Victoria: Comfort Beyond Melbourne CBD

Let’s take a flight or a ferry to go to Melbourne, the capital of Victoria. Discovery Parks Melbourne is located just 30 minutes north of Melbourne's CBD in Braybrook. This property offers an alternative to traditional city-center accommodations, allowing guests to avoid the hustle and bustle while enjoying easy access to Melbourne’s top attractions via public transport. Clare Read highlights, “Discovery Parks Melbourne provides the perfect balance of comfort, convenience, and tranquility for families and groups.”

The park features amenities such as a swimming pool, playground, games room, and even a movie room. “It’s a great option for those looking to relax while still being close to everything Melbourne has to offer,” says Clare. Guests can also enjoy a BBQ area and a well-stocked kiosk for quick essentials.

The accommodations here cater to various needs, offering superior studios and one- to three-bedroom units, as well as deluxe options for those seeking additional luxury. Clare notes, “Our deluxe cabins and apartments provide a modern, home-away-from-home experience, perfect for larger groups or those looking for a bit more space.”

Discovery Parks Geelong

About 70 kilometers south of Melbourne, set alongside the tranquil Barwon River, Discovery Parks Geelong is just five minutes from the city center and serves as a gateway to the iconic Great Ocean Road. "Geelong is the perfect starting point for travelers wanting to explore coastal Victoria," explains Clare Read. The park’s proximity to Torquay, only 20 minutes south, makes it an excellent base for discovering world-class surf beaches and historic townships.

Discovery Parks Geelong offers a variety of accommodation options, from superior two-bedroom cabins to deluxe units with one or two bedrooms, catering to families, groups, and couples alike. "Our accommodations are self-contained, providing all the conveniences guests need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay," Clare notes. The park also features a swimming pool, playground, BBQ areas, and an onsite café open seven days a week, ensuring a seamless experience for travelers.

Guests can enjoy leisurely riverside walks or dine at nearby restaurants and cafes before embarking on their journey along the Great Ocean Road. Whether relaxing on-site or exploring the natural and cultural wonders of the region, Discovery Parks Geelong provides an ideal home base.

Exploring the Great Ocean Road

Continuing along the Great Ocean Road, 270 kilometers from Geelong, Discovery Parks Warrnambool provides also an excellent base for exploring iconic landmarks and coastal wonders. Just an hour away, the world-famous 12 Apostles await, offering stunning views of the rugged southern Australian coastline. “Warrnambool is a perfect stop for travelers wanting a mix of natural beauty and charming coastal towns,” says Clare Read.

This property is also just a 30-minute drive from Port Fairy, a quaint fishing village renowned for its 19th-century cottages and relaxed ambiance. With its unique blend of historical charm and coastal attractions, Port Fairy is an inviting retreat for visitors seeking tranquility.

Additional amenities include tennis and basketball courts, conference spaces, and facilities designed for both leisure and business travelers.

Kangaroo Island: A Wildlife Paradise

About 60-kilometer drive from Victor Harbor, you can take the Sealink ferry in Cape Jervis to go to Kangaroo Island. G'day offers there an escape to the wilder, less developed western side of the island, just a 10-minute drive from Flinders Chase National Park. “This location is perfect for travelers seeking a true retreat into nature,” says Clare. Known for its dramatic landscapes and abundant wildlife, the island is a haven for nature lovers. Visitors can expect regular encounters with kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, echidnas, and a vibrant array of bird species. "The proximity to Flinders Chase National Park makes it easy to experience the best of Kangaroo Island’s wilderness," Clare adds.

The Discovery Park provides a range of accommodation options tailored to different traveler needs, from economical lodge motel rooms to standard two-bedroom cabins, superior two-bedroom cabins, and deluxe options with one or two bedrooms. “Our accommodations are designed to offer comfort while blending seamlessly with the surrounding natural beauty,” Clare notes.

Tasting the Epicurean Way

After leaving Kangaroo Island, travelers can take a scenic drive through the Fleurieu Peninsula and continue along the Epicurean Way to discover the Adelaide Hills. At the heart of this journey lies Discovery Parks Hahndorf, just a 20-minute drive from Adelaide's city center. “Hahndorf offers a unique blend of history, culture, and accessibility, making it a fantastic base for exploring the Adelaide Hills,” explains Clare Read.

Accommodations range from superior and deluxe one- or two-bedroom cabins to the luxurious adults-only safari tents. These exclusive tents feature private outdoor lounges, fire pits, BBQ areas, and access to a heated swimming pool and spa, making them ideal for couples seeking a refined retreat.

Along the way, Discovery Parks and Resorts offer convenient and immersive stops to enhance the journey.

Located in the heart of the Flinders Ranges, Wilpena Pound Resort provides an exceptional base to explore this ancient and dramatic landscape. “Wilpena is more than just a destination—it’s a window into Australia’s amazing nature and landscapes, but also deep history and culture,” shares Clare Read.

The resort offers guided experiences led by the region’s Traditional Owners, allowing guests to learn about the geological history, ancient fossils, and Aboriginal rock art that make this area so unique. “These activities connect visitors with the stories and heritage of the land,” Clare explains.

Following a recent acquisition, $5 million has been invested in upgrading the property, including enhancements to glamping tents, roads, and campgrounds. Over the next three years, an additional $15 million will transform the resort further, ensuring an even more comfortable and engaging experience for guests.
